Cherry Walnut Bread
- 1/4 cup crisco
- 1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup liquid from red maraschino cherries
- 1/3 cup chopped maraschino cherries
- 2/3 cup chopped walnuts
- Preheat the oven to 350 F and grease a loaf pan.
- Cream the crisco with the sugar and then beat in the egg.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt and then stir into the wet ingredients.
- Mix in the milk and cherry liquid without overstirring.
- Gently fold in the cherries and walnuts.
- Spread in the pan. Bake 55 to 60 minutes.
